AT&T to get its own Droid Bionic?

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Folks holding out for the Motorola Droid Bionic will be glad to know that they might not have to wait for it to arrive on Verizon's network. According to a recent discovery by the folks at Into Mobile, AT&T might be getting its own version of the Motorola Droid Bionic. They've got their hands on a screenshot showing a list of different versions of Motorola's UI: MotoBlur.

After probing deeper into the version numbers and trying to figure out which version of MotoBlur was for which device, it turns out that the MB865 is for the Motorola Atrix 4G, and MB860 somehow turns up results of the Motorola Droid Bionic. Since Verizon labels its Motorola phones differently (they use the code XT instead) it's definitely not a mix up between the AT&T and Verizon Droid Bionic.

However, Motorola has yet to officially announce the device for AT&T, so there's a possibility of the Droid Bionic entry in the data base being a mistake. But according to the latest tweet from MDB228 (the Twitter account supposedly belonging to the Motorola Droid Bionic): “Landing sites being acquired. Launch approaching quickly.” suggests the possibility of more than just one carrier for the phone. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Do you think the AT&T Droid Bionic will support the carrier's 4G LTE network when it launches?
