Motorola ATRIX HD for AT&T becomes official

We have seen the Motorola ATRIX HD in the past, back when it was known as ‘Dinara’. Now suddenly we find the product page live on Motorola's website even before the company made any official announcements.

Looking at the ATRIX HD you can see a strong resemblance to the RAZR. The phone has a similar sleek profile and a Kevlar covered back that curves upwards near the camera. And the specs of the phone match its good looks. On the front we have a 4.5-inch HD LCD with ColorBoost technology and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. On the back is a 8 megapixel shooter that can also capture 1080p videos. Inside there is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB memory (expandable) and a 1,780mAh battery.

The phone runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and you can even see that it uses on-screen navigation controls like the Galaxy Nexus. The phone will be available on AT&T's LTE network. Pricing and release dates should be available when Motorola makes the official announcement.

Motorola unveils dual-core XT760 for China

Motorola introduced yet another Android smartphone for the Chinese market. Called Motorola XT760, the new droid is built around a 4" qHD screen and a 1GHz dual-core CPU of unknown architecture.

The mid-range Motorola XT760 comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support and dual-band 3G with HSPA. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a camera on either side of its chassis. The main snapper at the back can capture 8 MP stills and 1080p video, while the front-facing shooter is limited to VGA resolution.

The Motorola XT760 comes with 768MB of RAM and 2GB of built-in storage with microSD card slot for expanding that by up to 32GB. Local connectivity is well covered with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0 HS, a 3.5mm audio jack and an HDMI port.

Motorola XT760 is available from authorized Motorola resellers across China starting today, but its pricing hasn't been confirmed by the official Motorola press release. There's also nothing on the potential release of the smartphone in other markets.

Android 4.0 update for Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX is a no-show

Just last week we reported that according to a leaked screenshot, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was headed for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX come 4th April as a highly-anticipated update. Given that it's already the 5th of April and still no update, safe to say that those rumors did not pan out. Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX users have since taken to Twitter to prod Motorola for the details of the update. Unfortunately all the company had to offer was that the while both devices were scheduled to receive the Android 4.0 update, a release date has yet to be confirmed and that details would be shared "soon". The good news is that while no ICS will be rolling out for RAZR and RAZR MAXX owners today, your devices will still be receiving an update that will address some bugs and provide enhancements. Motorola DROID Fighter shows up on camera

We've heard of the DROID Fighter in the past, with the phone's name making an appearance on a list of upcoming Verizon devices and over the weekend it looks like the phone has finally surfaced. The folks over at Phone HK recently posted a picture of a phone allegedly called the Motorola DROID Fighter. Looking very similar to the Motorola DROID RAZR, it features the same form factor of the latter the only difference being a larger display and the lack of capacitive buttons at the bottom of the phone. The DROID Fighter is said to feature a 4.6″ HD display, and it could have the 3,300mAh battery of the RAZR MAXX. The phone should also pack Android Ice Cream Sandwich at launch, as evident by the lack of buttons on it. No word on the phone's other specs, but we'll fill you in as soon as we learn anything. The DROID Fighter is slated to arrive on April 12th 2012.

Motorola Atrix receives new update

Motorola Atrix owners should keep a look out for an update notification on their phones starting today. While it's not Ice Cream Sandwich, the update is said to bring some noticeable improvements to the phone. The update brings the Atrix build number up to 4.5.141 and implements the latest Google Android security fixes, improvements to memory function as it relates to media applications and ability to prevent need for rebooting when phone is impacted by heavy loading or high temperatures (improved stability). It also lets you launch voice commands from a Bluetooth headset when the phone is asleep, improvements to WiFi settings and easier setup for Mobile Hotspot, improvements to text messaging, and all phone book contacts are kept after the upgrade. If you intend to install the update today, as usual - remember to backup all your important data. Bear in mind that the update is also said to break root access. Hit Settings > About Phone > System Updates to pull the update manually.

Motorola outs Android 4.0 upgrade schedule, adds Atrix 4G, Photon 4G and others to the ICS party list

Ever since the debut of Ice Cream Sandwich, the masses of Motorola owners have yearned to discover when (if?) their devices would receive Android's latest and greatest. Well, Moto's finally let the cat out of the bag, setting out domestic and global timelines for its tablets and phones to get Android 4.0. Xoom WiFi owners here in the states have been enjoying ICS for a month, and Family Edition owners can expect the same tasty treat in Q2 of this year. Folks with RAZRs (including the Chinese MT917 variant) or XT928 (the Chinese evolution of the Droid X) in areas outside the US will be getting ICS in Q2 as well. Atrix 4G, Atrix 2, and Photon 4G owners around the world will have to wait until Q3 of 2012 for theirs, as will Xoom 2 and Xyboard owners. Motorola's blog, Inside Motorola, states that the Bionic, Droid 4, RAZR Maxx, and Electrify will be getting in on the action, too, but its engineers have yet to set a date for their upgrades. AT&T Motorola ATRIX 4.5.141 Update Now Rolling Out

AT&T and Motorola have issued an upgrade to the original Motorola ATRIX, one of the first Tegra 2 devices. It's not Ice Cream Sandwich, of course, but we do get the normal round of security, stability and enhancement improvements for a number of different things. Take a look at the full slate of changes below: Everyone should be seeing this update on their phones right away. To check for it, go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. A notification will pop up asking you to download it. Do that, and then install when prompted. Motorola Defy Mini will be launched in the UK in late March

Motorola has officially announced that its rugged Defy Mini Android smartphone would be released in the UK starting late March (contradicting previous reports, which had it that the handset would arrive in early March). The Motorola Defy Mini runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and is dust and water-proof. It features a 3.2 inch HVGA Gorilla Glass display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, stereo FM radio with RDS, VGA front-facing camera, 3MP rear camera, 512MB of RAM, 600MHz processor, and MicroSD card support (up to 32GB). Unlocked, the Defy Mini will cost about £175. Some British retailers, including Clove, are already taking pre-orders for the new handset. To celebrate the launch of the Defy Mini, Motorola has teamed up with Snowbombing for "an exclusive UK event in March, called the Urban Mountain Disco." The limited edition Droid RAZR you can never have

Verizon employees are being given the opportunity to own a smartphone that most will never get their hands on, a limited edition Motorola Droid RAZR. The phone not only comes in an exclusive red and black deco and a free dock, but it is being offered for only $99. Verizon is also providing employees with the chance to purchase a limited edition 32GB Droid RAZR MAXX  for $199. Both special handsets come engraved with “Limited Edition” and a number designation. We’re sure a few will become available via sites such as eBay and Craigslist, but the savings most certainly won’t be passed along to the common man. Anyone out there going to try to track one of these down?

Motorola has made a new announcement today that their latest Android smartphone ‘Defy Mini' will hit UK in late March. The handset will retail for about 175 GBP (about $275) unlocked. To refresh your memory, the Defy Mini packs a 3.2-inch 480 x 320 scratch proof Corning Gorilla Glass touchscreen display, a 600MHz processor, a 512MB RAM, a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), a VGA front-facing camera, a 3.0MP rear-facing camera, HSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, a micro USB port, a 3.5mm headset jack, a 1650mAh battery and runs on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS. Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX gets Android 2.3.6 OTA update

If you happen to be a proud owner of the Motorola Droid RAZR or the Droid RAZR MAXX, then here is a hat tip for you – there is a software update available for both smartphones, although do not be disappointed that it isn't Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but rather, the incremental Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread update. Software version 6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US is currently being pushed to the aforementioned smartphones via OTA (Over The Air), and for those who prefer to initiate things instead of waiting for stuff to happen, you can always go about it the manual method via Settings > About Phone > System Updates. In this update, you can now have peace of mind that Mobile Hotspot will successfully allow other devices to connect to all with better security, not to mention enjoy the latest 3D map improvements in VZ Navigator, among others. Motorola Looking for Testers for Photon 4G Update

Motorola's issued the call to arms for those with Photon 4G units on Sprint. They are gearing up to release a new update soon and need testers to help them determine whether or not things are good to go for the vast majority of those who have the device. We're not sure what to expect but we somehow don't think this one is Ice Cream Sandwich. We will find out soon if everything goes well, though. The Motorola MOTOLUXE XT615 Android smartphone is now available for pre-order in the UK via Clove. You can pre-order the MOTOLUXE for £215 or around $330. The Motorola MOTOLUXE XT615 is powered by the Google Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system with the Moto Switch 2.0 user interface. Clove UK Now Offering Presale Opportunity for Motorola MOTOLUXE and and Motorola DEFY MINI

Our friends at Clove have pinged us to let us know that they’re now offering presales for the Motorola MOTOLUXE and the Motorola DEFY MINI, two new Android smartphones aimed at the affordable market. Prices (including VAT) for the MOTOLUXE and DEFY MINI are £258.00 and £174.99, respectively. Both devices are expected to hit shelves either late February or early March, according to Clove. Motorola MOTOLUXE and Motorola DEFY MINI up for pre-order in the UK

Earlier this month, Motorola announced the launch of two new budget devices - the Motorola MOTOLUXE and Motorola DEFY MINI. Designed as entry level devices but with decent specs, the two Android smartphones are now up for pre-order in the UK. No specific release dates have been announced (late February or early March) but you can pre-order the MOTOLUXE for $330 (£215), while the DEFY MINI will be $225 (£145.83). Motorola Droid Bionic update tested

Motorola has started to test their Droid Bionic update on Verizon Wireless, with the mobile carrier sending one out at the beginning of December last year in the form of system software 5.5.893. Apart from that, the past one month plus has seen the arrival of an update to hit 5.9.901, where it will hold a rather extensive list of new features and changes. There is additional work and development done on the smartphone's next update, and whispers abound that a 5.9.902 update is already being prepared for distribution. Testers who have successfully applied the 5.9.902 update would have come across additional modifications to their smartphones, albeit these are minor ones that would not be missed too much even if they were not there. Verizon's VCast Music app has been removed with this particular update, but in return, Amazon's MP3 store will plant itself firmly in the handset's ecosystem. Notifications of this update should arrive shortly.

Verizon Motorola Droid Razr (16GB black version) now cost $199.99. Razr Maxx incoming?

Verizon has officially announced that the black version of its Motorola Droid Razr now costs only $199.99 online on contract ($100 less than the handset's initial price). If you're visiting the carrier's website (here) you'll find that there are now two Razr models listed: 16GB (the one that costs $199), and 32GB (which is still $299). They have the same amount of internal memory, but the latter has a 16GB memory card pre-installed. Verizon also said that the white and purple editions of the Droid Razr would cost $199.99, too, but only starting January 23 (the white Razr 32GB is currently $299, while the purple one isn't out yet). These price cuts are likely a sign that we'll see the new Motorola Droid Razr Maxx hitting the shelves pretty soon (probably on January 26). The Razr Maxx will cost $299.99 on contract, coming with a huge 3,300 mAh battery that's capable of providing up to 21 hours of talking one a single charge.

Motorola Defy Mini pre-orders start in the UK for �174.99, shipping in late February or early March

After the original Defy and its successor, the Defy+, Motorola has recently announced a third rugged Android smartphone to join its lineup – the Defy Mini. As its name implies, this is smaller than the Defy+ (and unfortunately also lower-end). The phone is now up for pre-order in the UK in SIM-free and unlocked form, courtesy of Clove. The price you'll have to pay to get this little rugged device? £174.99, VAT included. That's certainly not much compared to the high-end smartphones of today, but this is a lower-midrange unit after all. Though that may be compensated by its sheer ruggedness. You be the judge.
