Pantech Vega Racer 2 has ceramic body, does LTE

Pantech Vega Racer 2 has ceramic body, does LTE
The Samsung Galaxy S3 certainly lit up newswires and websites today, with many rumors surrounding it being sparked to greater life than ever before. Well, one of the unique selling points of the Galaxy S3 was touted to be a ceramic body, but it seems that Pantech might have beaten Samsung to the punch with the Pantech Vega Racer 2 which will come with a ceramic body. Naturally, Pantech is quick to capitalize on this by claiming that this is the first of its kind in the smartphone world, and as for the other specifications, they are available right after the jump.

Expect the Vega Racer 2 to come with a 4.8″ 720p HD touchscreen display, a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor that will most probably run at 1.5GHz, LTE connectivity, as well as the glass ceramic coating that ought to make it more durable than a standard piece of plastic. Does this mean there is no more need for a smartphone case? I doubt that, but at least it will add a touch of class. No idea on whether this will arrive anywhere outside of South Korea or not, but one can always remain hopeful, right?

The Pantech Vega Racer 2 is claimed as the world's first smartphone that features a ceramic body. The ceramic body should be a lot more durable than plastic body. The smartphone comes jam packed with a 4.8-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor and LTE support. No word on pricing or availability so far. [Unwiredview]

Pantech Burst Android Smartphone

Pantech Burst Android Smartphone
[CES 2012] Pantech intends to burst (pardon the pun, I cannot resist it) onto the smartphone scene with their latest addition, the Pantech Burst. Coming in the similar form factor as that of other standard Android-powered smartphones, the Pantech Burst will target the budget-conscious crowd, considering a 2-year contract with AT&T accompanied by a mere $49.99 price tag allows you to bring home the Burst. The Pantech Burst is also the first 4G LTE device from Pantech, sporting a 4" Super AMOLED display, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread as the operating system of choice, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of internal memory that can be further augmented thanks to a microSD memory card slot, and dual cameras with the 5-megapixel rear shooter letting you record 720p resolution video as well.

You can choose from either black or red colors, and hopefully the 1,650mAh battery is able to last the distance. I suppose if you do not happen to play games at all and use its data connection sparingly, the Pantech Burst would make a great companion, but otherwise, it is still a decent entry-level phone for those who want to dip their toes into the Android world for the first time. Definitely not as shabby looking as other cheap phones, so you need not feel ashamed of pulling it out from your pocket in a social setting.

Pantech announces the new MIRACH IS11PT smartphone

Thursday, July 21, 2011

Usually when it comes to handsets that have been created specifically to withstand varying levels of abuse, they generally do not look very pleasing to the eye. Then again we're guessing users who buy them for its protective features probably don't pay too much attention to its looks anyway. But what if you were looking for a device that could withstand slight abuse, but look pretty good at the same time?

Introducing the Pantech MIRACH IS11PT mobile phone, which the company claims is both waterproof and dustproof, although it does not look like it will be able to withstand hard knocks or drops. Specs wise, the device is said to be sporting a second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 SoC which boasts a 1GHz CPU, a 3.7-inch WVGA screen with a 480 x 800 resolution, and it is also purported to run on Android's Gingerbread 2.3 platform.

Unfortunately not much else is known about the device or its availability and pricing, although chances are it will be launched in Japan, which means those of us living in the US will most likely not see the device available on our shelves.
