Speaking of price, we were expecting this phone to have a killer price/features ratio, and even if we didn't so far get an actual price to speak of, there have been rumors here and there. First in Greece where €250 was mentioned, then in France when it fell to ‘less than €200′. All in theory, of course, since we've yet to hear any official word on this from ZTE.
In the meantime, one online retailer in the UK has started taking pre-orders for the device. Clove now offers you the chance to be one of the first people in the UK to own a ZTE Skate (at least one carrying ZTE's brand, since Orange may launch it sooner as the Monte Carlo). The price being asked is a very reasonable £249.99, VAT included of course. The smartphone is expected to become available on September 19, which means it will miss the first intended shipping time frame of ‘summer'.
A big caveat applies to all of the information above, though. Clove says that official price and availability information has yet to be confirmed. The translation of that is that both the price being listed now, as well as the September 19 release date may change before the handset hits the streets. So keep that in mind.
We're hoping the price does change indeed, yet not by increasing, rather by getting even lower. The lower the price, the more ZTE will sell of these devices, that's for sure. We'll keep you posted.
