| Several
days after we've seen that mistakenly published ad which prematurely
unveiled Sprint's plans, the carrier has now officially confirmed that
it would launch the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as one of its first 4G LTE
products. Alongside it, Sprint will release the LG Viper, a brand new
smartphone that also has LTE connectivity. Already available at Verizon Wireless, the Galaxy Nexus is the world's first smartphone to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It features - among others - a 4.65 inch HD (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED display, NFC, Google Wallet (only on Sprint), dual-core processor, and 16GB of internal memory. The LG Viper will be launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, featuring a 4 inch WVGA Nova display, NFC, Google Wallet, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 5MP rear camera, and a VGA front-facing camera. The Viper is an eco-friendly handset - its "casing is made of 35 percent recycled plastics", and there's a "charger with a no-load consumption rating of .03W, which exceeds the EC Code of Conduct on energy efficiency." Sprint didn't unveil when exactly the Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper would be released, but it should happen before mid-2012. At about the same time, customers will be able to buy the Sierra Wireless Tri-Network Hotspot, which provides access to 3G, 4G WiMax, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi networks.
