News Update :

SIM-free Motorola Atrix will be available in the UK on August 2 for £489.99

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

The Motorola Atrix, one of the first Android devices to sport a dual-core processor and (very) high-res screen, has already made it to the UK via Orange and T-Mobile, but so far it hasn't been available elsewhere.

That's about to change, according to a blog post by online mobile retailer MobileFun. It claims that it will be able to start selling a SIM-free version of the Atrix (and hence one that will work on all UK operators' networks) on August 2. MobileFun has also announced how much it's asking for the phone, and at £489.99, it will be anything but cheap.

Granted, this is still one of the top smartphones of the moment, unveiled with much fanfare during CES in January. The Atrix has a dual-core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, a 4-inch 540×960 capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, a biometric fingerprint reader, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage space, microSD card support, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSPA, GPS, and a huge 1930 mAh battery.
