T-Mobile HTC Flyer hits FCC
Monday, June 13, 2011
The Wi-Fi only version of the HTC Flyer tablet hit the US a month ago, but it looks increasingly likely that we will see a T-Mobile version of the tablet at some point this summer. Sprint's version of the Flyer, the Evo 4G, will hit shelves on June 24th, but we have had no confirmation from T-Mobile that they will be getting their own version. We saw a T-Mobile marketing scrapbook in March that indicated that T-Mobile would be receiving the HTC Flyer. The latest implication that T-Mobile will be getting its own HTC Flyer comes from the FCC. A GSM HTC Flyer with the same frequency,1700MHz, used by T-Mobile for their HSPA network has just hit the FCC today. The HTC Flyer runs on Android 2.3, but HTC says the tablet will eventually be upgraded to Honeycomb. It also features HTC's scribe technology which allows the user to write on the tablet with a special pen, which will cost you an extra $80. Unfortunately, we still have no info on pricing or availability, but the fact that it has hit the FCC shows that it must be slated for a release at some point this summer. The latest rumor points at a July 6th release date. We will keep you updated on the status of the T-Mobile HTC Flyer.
