Samsung Galaxy Z announced

Sunday, July 3, 2011

The Samsung Galaxy march does not seem to stop anytime soon – it seems that a spanking new mode known as the Samsung Galaxy Z has just been announced, where it will be unveiled by the Swedish carrier Three – which is a rather strange move in our opinion, as the South Korean company isn't the one rolling it out. Just what the heck is the Galaxy Z? For starters, this is a combination of the I9003 Galaxy SL and the S II, featuring a 4.2″ Super LCD display and a Tegra 2 chipset running alongside a couple of 1GHz Cortex-A9 cores.

With a 4.2″ display at WVGA, you will get a chassis which measures 125.3mm x 66.1mm x 9.5mm that tips the scales at 135 grams – granted, it is not Galaxy S II proportions, but nevertheless impressive.

The 5-megapixel camera is capable of 720p video recording capability, so forget about capturing full HD video here (1080p), and thankfully the rather limited 8GB of internal memory can be further expanded using the microSD memory card slot. No idea on pricing, but it should be somewhere in the Galaxy S II range at most.
