News Update :

Samsung Galaxy S II, Motorola Xoom headed to Telstra Australia

Monday, May 9, 2011

Earlier in January, we’ve reported that Telstra would launch Honeycomb tablets in Australia. Now the time has come to find out exactly what tablet the carrier plans to release: it’s the Motorola Xoom gadget, the world’s first Honeycomb device.

According to Ausdroid, Telstra confirmed the Xoom earlier today, and it looks like it will be ready to introduce it in May. Pricing details have not been disclosed.

Another new Android device that’s headed to Telstra is the Samsung Galaxy S II i9100.

As you can see in the image above, the i9100T version of the new Galaxy has been approved by the Bluetooth SIG. Usually, when a Samsung handset receives a T next to its model name, it means Telstra will carry it sooner or later (this is what happened to the Galaxy 551 – check it out here at Telstra – and quite a few other Samsungs).

We’ve previously heard that MobiCity would sell the S II unlocked in Australia starting this month. However, now the retailer says the handset will ship in early May. It’s quite possible that Telstra will have it starting the same period. We’ll see.
