Deal? Done. Enter the Samsung Galaxy R (even the name is funny and playful in a way – it's close, but not quite an S, get it?). We first saw this device last month listed somewhere in Sweden as the Galaxy Z. Then it was supposedly headed to the UK as the R, before Samsung said that it hadn't officially confirmed the handset for the UK market. Well, it has now. Finally, a few days ago we even watched the first hands-on demo video of the Galaxy R, so we knew that this phone just had to be real.
And it is. The Samsung Galaxy R will be in stores in Europe before the end of this month (or maybe in early August, since this month literally ends on Sunday), and will subsequently become available in all of Asia.
The software is more or less identical to what you see on the Galaxy S II, including Samsung's own TouchWiz UI layer and various content Hubs. We'll let you know when you can buy a Galaxy R. And for how much, since unfortunately Samsung stayed mum on the pricing details for now.
