Friday, February 17, 2012

Sharp AQUOS Phone SH-06D
When it comes to devices, the Japanese market is still one of those that try to introduce new technologies and features earlier than the rest of the world. In fact, the Japanese are now introducing technology features that allow TV signals to directly be transmitted to portable devices like smart phones and tablets. One of the recently introduced among such smartphones is the Sharp AQUOS SH-06D smartphone.

The Sharp AQUOS Phone SH-06D is a new smartphone that is designed to receive signals from the newly established NOTTV channel in Japan which is expected to begin transmission n sometime in April. The smartphone features include having a 1.2GHz dual core processor and a 4.5 inch glassless HD 3D display. It also comes with a tabletop holder with a built-in antenna that allows users to watch multimedia NOTTV broadcasts and charge up the smartphone at the same time. The smartphone is also compatible with DOCOMO's mobile wallet services as well as receive the current 1seg mobile TV. And oh yes, this smartphone is also waterproof. The Sharp AQUOS Phone SH-06D is expected to be available in Japan sometime in March for NTT DOCOMO. Pricing details for this new smart phone have not been provided yet.

Orange to launch the Sharp Aquos SH80F 3D Android smartphone next month

Monday, October 3, 2011

Phones made and released in Japan usually stay there, and are almost never introduced in other countries. That's why I was surprised to find out that Orange will officially release the Sharp “AQUOS PHONE SH80F” in France sometime in October.

Already available in Japan via NTT docomo as the AQUOS PHONE SH-12C (pictured below), the new Sharp handset runs Android Gingerbread and features a 4.2 inch qHD 3D display, 8MP dual cameras for 3D photos and videos, and a 1.4GHz Qualcomm processor.

The Sharp Aquos SH80F will be Orange's “first mobile device capable of converting images and videos from 2D to 3D in real time.” The carrier didn't say how much the handset will cost, and neither if it's planning to launch it in other markets except France.

All in all, the SH80F is a phone that will certainly give the HTC Evo 3D and the LG Optimus 3D a run for their money.

The Sharp Aquos Phone 102SH also supports DLNA, infrared, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, e-wallet functionality and Bluetooth 3.0. SoftBank Japan is ready to release the Aquos Phone 102SH in December 2011. Sharp SH8298U 3D Android phone announced

Monday, September 12, 2011

Sharp has announced a new 3D Android smartphone in Japan, the Aquos SH8298U. This is the same phone whose images were posted a couple of months back on the FCC website.

The specifications of this phone are mostly identical to what we reported earlier; a 4.2-inch, qHD resolution, stereoscopic 3D display, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with single-core 1.4GHz CPU and Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal memory, dual 8 megapixel cameras on the back for recording in 3D with a single LED flash, 1240mAh battery and Android 2.3.4. The model launching in Japan has GSM radio instead of the CDMA version that we saw earlier in FCC images.

The phone is currently limited to Japan's SoftBank network but we hope to see this gorgeous device in other parts of the world as well.

New Sharp handset could be next Android Sidekick

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Images of a new Android-based smartphone from Sharp have leaked accompanied by rumors of a US launch through T-Mobile. If the stylings of the handset look at all familiar, consider that the images were accompanied by the rumo that this could be TMo's next Sidekick handset. It would follow the Sidekick 4G made by Samsung, but whether or not it will be its successor or merely a second Sidekick option isn't known.

The phone is rumored to rock a 3.2-inch HVGA display and other smartphone standards such as WiFi, GPS, and a camera of undetermined resolution. Nothing can be said for a release date or pricing at this point in time.
